Middle East and Asia
In a region of striking contrasts, Home-Start has schemes running in two countries with unique challenges.
- In Israel, Home-Start has run schemes in cities, towns and villages the length and breadth of the country, supporting families in Jewish, Muslim and Druze communities. Schemes support hundreds of immigrant families, and families from religious and non-religious backgrounds.
- Home-Start Japan was set up in 2005 and hopes to establish the first active scheme in Japan during 2007.
- In Sri Lanka, Home-Start Lanka has one scheme in Colombo District, with a further two coming up in Kalutara and Galle Districts. The Colombo scheme operates through three satellites, based in Maternity and Child Welfare clinics in deprived areas.
